Petition the FCC

In the spirit of laziness that - like the Phanatic's evil glare - has overtaken rubylegs and the other denizens of Phillyville, Phillyville would like to announce an update to its sit-on-your-fatass approach to civil action.

Josh, a Phillyville reader and commenter(!!! who knew there were any!?!?!?), has set up an online petition that allows lazy-ass cyber surfers like myself and my readers to do something positive for the world and Phillyville in particular - petition the FCC to close the loophole that allows Comcast a monopoly over the broadcast of Philadelphia sports.

I've added a permanent link to Josh's petition to my sidebar on the right and to my previous post Civil Action Made Simple. In the meantime, feel free to click on over from the link embedded in the previous sentence.

If you want some background on the issue, please read some of my previous posts on the subject: Comcast is Still Evil, Comcast is Evil, the Phillies are Stupid and the Eagles are Run by a Bunch of Lucky Morons, and Comcast Sucks.

Jeff Gelles in his Consumer Watch column has also devoted a considerable amount of ink to the issue, all of which also makes for a good read but, unless you want to cough up the dough to access the Inquirer archives, is unfortunately not terribly accesible. Here is only one I could dig up: "Trying to right cable loophole."

With any luck, we'll be able to watch the Phils' September drive for the wild card on DirecTV along with a ton of extra cash saved from not having to pay Comcast's exorbitant fees to watch what should be rightfully ours!!!
